
Essie Cummings
Education and Experience
After graduating from Charles Sturt University in NSW, Essie began her career in physiotherapy as a mobile physiotherapist in Sydney. She then transitioned into private practice where she has developed her passions in sports, musculoskeletal conditions and Women’s Health.
With a strong sporting background, Essie is the physiotherapist for Australia’s national men’s ice hockey team, the Mighty Roos, supporting them at competitions both locally and internationally. She has also worked extensively with the Sydney Bears and Sydney Sirens. A standout career highlight for Essie includes being recognised as the team physiotherapist on the historic Goodall Cup—one of the oldest ice hockey trophies in the world.
Approach
Essie is a dedicated physiotherapist who focuses on active recovery and empowering her clients through education and tailored exercise programs. She combines this with hands-on treatment techniques, including dry needling. Essie values building strong therapeutic relationships with her clients and enjoys working collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their individual goals.
Clinical Interests
Essie’s areas of clinical interest and further study include:
- Womens Health and Pre and Post Natal Care
- Sports injuries (especially ice hockey, ball team sports)
Essie is currently completing level 2 of advanced studies in Women’s Health with expert physiotherapist Taryn Hallam through the Australian Physiotherapy Association, with a special interest in pelvic health through the life stages.
Sport and Activities
Outside of work and when she’s not rink-side, Essie is taking care of her young family. She enjoys making the most of the outdoors, and loves escaping to the beach, hiking, camping, and snowboarding during the winter months.
